Animal Massage

Information on and Prices for Animal Massage

Animals respond amazingly well to massage and integrate the benefits into their bodies even faster than people. The massage benefits for animals are really the same as those for people.  Massage releases muscle tension, eases stiffness, reduces muscle spasms, improves range of motion, improves the circulation of blood and the movement of lymph, improves immunity, enhances the health of the skin and coat, quiets the mind, reduces anxiety, and helps to manage the effects of stress to name a few.

Athletic animals can benefit greatly from a regular massage program. Massage can help performance animals maintain or elevate their performance level, as well as help reduce fatigue after workouts, help prevent injury, and even help manage injuries after they have happened by fostering faster healing, reducing pain and swelling and reducing the formation of excessive scar tissue.

Hospitalized or injured animals benefit in many ways from massage including pain relief, reduced boredom due to confinement, management of excessive scar tissue formation, improved digestion, increased local circulation and anxiety/stress reduction.

Geriatric animals love massage for its ability to help reduce inflammation and pain, increase circulation and maintain and/or improve joint range of motion.

Small Animal Massage

Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, and Small Exotics

Massage sessions can last from 20 minutes (smaller critters) to 1 hour.  Most dogs and especially cats have a window from 30 minutes to 1 hour during which they can focus on receiving massage.  Therefore, most sessions average 45 to 50 minutes in length. The more massage they receive the longer their attention span for massage becomes. I charge a flat session fee of $50. (Sessions that are 30 minutes or less are charged an adjusted fee of $30.)  Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Large Animal Massage

Horses, Cattle, Other Hoof-stock and Larger Exotics

Massage sessions can last from 45 minutes to 1 and 1/2 hours, but average just over an hour in length. I charge a flat session fee of $60. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Massage is helpful for the well being of any herd animal as they naturally communicate through touch.

Things to Know Before Making an Appointment

Before the first session, I will need to gather the guardian contact information and some basic information on the animal such as location, health, temperament, and current training if applicable. (You can find the form for this on my forms page.)  I do request that someone (whether owner, trainer, handler, etc.) be present for at least the first session if not the first few sessions. This way the animal and I have a chance to get to know each other, and I can become familiar with the animal's routine and surroundings. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I feel truly blessed to be able to share the wonderful gift of massage with many species and to teach others to do the same.
